CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure that uses a fat freezing technology called cryolipolysis to control target cooling areas and eliminate your fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues.

The human body is mainly made up of water - cells, tissues, blood and dermis are filled with water. But fat cells are different, they are rich in oil. When oil and water are frozen at the same time, oil will freeze and solidify before water.

So in Coolsculpting process, the difference in freezing point is used to coagulate only fats, crystallizing the fat cells and destroying them. Meanwhile, the skin will only feel cool and the blood flow will not be affected.

1. The area to be treated will be checked.
2. Counseling and evaluation will be conducted to determine the location and orientation of the areas where coolsculpting will be performed.
3. A coolsculpting guide/design will be created using a ZELTIQ template plan.
4. A ZELTIQ pad (gel pad) will be attached to the treatment area.
5. An applicator that matches the body's natural shape will then be applied.
6. The ZELTIQ coolsculpting process will be started.

'Suction' and 'Cycles' are the 2 terminologies often associated with coolsculpting. To understand coolsculpting better, here is the meaning behind the 2 words:

<Suction>
In order for Coolsculpting to work, the body fat needs to be 'vacuumed' into the applicator. Most applicators rely on its suction power to pull the treated area away from the body to get it into contact with the cooling panels. One applicator could be designed for denser areas of fat that are difficult to be suctioned, while a different applicator may not have suction at all to treat easier areas.

<Cycles>
Coolsculpting applicators use 1 cycle per area. Therefore, treating both sides of the body e.g both sides of the flanks is considered 2 cycles. This is how the cost of Coolsculpting is determined for patients.

<CoolCurve+ Advantage>
It has suction feature, and has a cup design to be placed on areas like hip rolls, flanks, muffin tops or bra bulges.

<CoolCore Advantage>
This applicator has suction feature. Best used for contour of abdomen - upper and lower part.

<CoolFit Advantage>
CoolFit has suction power, and can treat vertical areas of body fat, like inner thighs.

<CoolPetite for Arms>
CoolPetite is quite new, and it also has suction power. Used around the upper arms and other smaller bulges of fat on the body.

<CoolAdvantage Plus>
This is a large applicator, and has a suction power. It is mostly used on the lower abdomen.

<CoolSmooth Pro>
This does not have suction power, and can be used to treat dense areas fat of the body, or the areas that cannot be pinched, like the outer thighs, or can also be used on the abdomen.

<CoolMini>
This miniature applicator can treat small areas of fat, like double chin, or armpit bulges.

<Cool Max>
Used for arms, inner thigh, abdomen, male breast, flanks, upper flanks.

Although both Coolsculpting and Liposuction help to remove excess fat in certain areas of the body, they are different:

· Liposuction is a surgical procedure which requires anesthesia. Coolsculpting is a non-surgical procedure.

· Liposuction involves suctioning out fat from targeted areas and requires around 2 weeks of recovery. Coolsculpting procedure has no downtime, and you can resume your daily activities right after the procedure.

Q1: Will the results of my coolsculpting sessions last?
A1: Yes, as long as you maintain an exercise regimen and a healthy diet. Coolsculpting eliminates fat cells permanently, meaning it freezes fat in the treated area for good. If you gain weight after coolsculpting, you will most likely to not have the same fat buildup in the treated area. However, extreme weight gain can cause nearby fat cells around the treated area to 'spread' into the vacant area, hence why it's important to maintain a healthy weight after the treatment.

Q2: When will the results become visible?
A2: Results will continue to improve over several months. However, with ZELTIQ, you will feel and see changes within 3 weeks after the procedure. Unlike liposuction, there won't be immediate results. Dramatic results will take around 2 months to appear, but your body will continue eliminating the fat cells for up to 6 months after the treatment.

Q3: Which areas of my body can be treated with coolsculpting?
A3: The double chin, gynostemia, bra-line, armpits, upper abdomen, lower abdomen, flanks (love handle), lower buttocks, inner thigh, outer thigh, upper knee and calf.

Q4: Under what conditions that coolsculpting might not be suitable for me?
A4: Coolsculpting may not be suitable for you if you are pregnant, attempting to get pregnant, breastfeeding, and have eczema or psoriasis. You also may not be suitable if you are on blood thinning medication, have pacemakers, or have severe anxiety.

Q5: Can I undergo coolsculpting after pregnancy?
A5: Yes, you can undergo coolsculpting after pregnancy to get rid of fat. This won't affect your ability to get pregnant again. However, doctors recommend to wait 3 months after giving birth to undergo coolsculpting, so consult with your doctor if you are unsure or concerned.

Q6: How many treatments are necessary?
A6: Results can be seen after just 1 treatment. But some may need a few more to reach their specific goals. In 1 treatment, up to 20% of fat reduction can be achieved, hence the number of treatments largely depends on your condition. Our affiliated specialists will can advice you on this.

Q7: Will I be exposed to risk?
