What is SMAS Face Lifting?
SMAS Face lifting is also known as SMAS Rhytidectomy and is a type of incisional facelift method that offers dramatic anti-aging results. This is because it targets and affects the deep set tissue, scientifically known as superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS). By lifting the skin and managing the SMAS layer, the skin can be redraped, providing the most effective long-term results.
Targeting the SMAS layer delivers better results that last for a long time. The scars also heal very smoothly due to limited tension at the incision site. Instead of the skin, the SMAS layer is pulled tight, which greatly reduces the possibility of the skin weakening and re-sagging.
SMAS Face Lifting Procedure
1. General anaesthesia will be administered.
2. Incision site will be set in between temporal area and the groove behind the ear.
3. SMAS tissue will be dissected and lifted.
4. The skin will be fixed and sutured.
How It Works
SMAS Facelift functions without properly changing the underlying structures beneath the surface, and as the skin quickly stretches it can lead to a quicker return of the jowls and the appearance of loose tissues under the chin, lessening the longevity and impact of the original facelift.
