What Is Hamra Method?
Hamra Method is an advanced surgical technique designed to improve dark circles, under-eye puffiness, and hollowness caused by aging and sagging orbital fat. Instead of simply removing the fat, this method repositions the protruding fat into the hollow areas beneath the eyes, smoothing out the contour and creating a more youthful, natural appearance.
There are two types: Front Hamra Method, which includes the removal of excess skin to treat wrinkles and sagging, and Back Hamra Method, which is less invasive, leaves no external scars, and is ideal for cases without skin laxity. The key benefits of the Hamra Method are its long-lasting, natural results, and its ability to treat both puffiness and hollowness at the same time – without the need for fillers or injections.
How It Works
Hamra Method involves surgically repositioning the orbital fat beneath the eyes to correct contour irregularities caused by aging. Through either an external incision just below the lower eyelashes (Front Hamra) or an internal incision through the conjunctiva (Back Hamra), the doctor at our affiliated clinic accesses the fat pads located within the orbital septum. These fat pads, which have shifted forward over time, are carefully released and moved downward into the hollow area beneath the lower eyelid, known as the tear trough or palpebral sulcus.
Once the fat has been repositioned, it is sutured to the periosteum to secure it in place. In Front Hamra approach, excess skin and lax muscle may also be removed or tightened before the incision is closed with fine sutures. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and depending on the approach, may or may not require post-operative stitch removal.
Hamra Method Procedure
1. Consultation and evaluation will be conducted.
2. Local anesthesia will be administered.
3. A small incision will be made depending on the approach.
4. The orbital fat will be repositioned.
5. The incision will be closed with sutures.
6. Cooling products may be recommended.
7. Post-care instructions will be provided by the doctor.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between Front Hamra and Back Hamra Methods?
A1: Front Hamra involves an external incision just beneath the eyelashes, allowing for fat repositioning along with skin and muscle tightening. Back Hamra is performed from inside the lower eyelid, repositioning fat without any external incision or skin removal.
Q2: Will there be visible scars?
A2: Front Hamra may leave a thin scar below the lash line, which fades over time; whereas Back Hamra leaves no visible scars since the incision is made on the inside of the eyelid.
Q3: How long is the recovery period?
A3: Swelling usually subsides within 1 to 2 weeks, while bruising (if any) fades over 2 to 3 weeks. Full healing and scar fading may take several months depending on the individual’s healing process.
Q4: When can I wear makeup again?
A4: Eye makeup should be avoided for at least 7 days or until the incision area is fully healed. Consult with the doctor at our affiliated clinic to determine the right time for you to wear makeup.
Q5: How would I know which method should I choose (Front or Back)?
A5: The decision depends on the degree of skin laxity and presence of wrinkles. If there is excess skin and sagging, Front Hamra is recommended. If the issue is limited to fat protrusion without skin laxity, Back Hamra may be sufficient. Consult the doctor at our affiliated clinic to determine the best method for you.
