For people of all ages, eyebags, which are the puffiness or swelling that develop behind the eyes, are a typical or common skin problem. 1. Improve Sleep Habits
Experts recommend that most adults should aim to get between 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. If you are having trouble settling down to rest, try to improve your sleeping routine by:
· Creating a sleep schedule
· Avoid nicotine in the hours before your bedtime
· Avoid caffeine for 8 hours before your bedtime
· Avoid eating large meals a few hours before going to sleep
· Avoid from using electronic devices at least 1 hour before bedtime
· Make your room dark and cool, for a better sleep condition
2. Apply Tea Bags
You can use caffeinated tea bags under your eyes to help with both circles and bags.
The caffeine in the tea contains powerful antioxidants, the ability to increase blood flow to your skin. It is also said to protect against UV rays and potentially slow the aging process.
3. Use a Cold Compress
You might find relief from dark circles by using a cold compress. The cold helps constrict blood vessels in the area, offering temporary relief.
While store-bought compresses are available, simple DIY methods can be just as effective.
Some DIY options that can be used are:
· Chilled teaspoon
· Cool cucumber
· Wet washcloth
· Bag of frozen veggies
4. Add Retinol Cream To Your Routine
You may have used eye creams before, but focusing on specific ingredients is the key. Retinol creams have been used for a variety of skin issues including acne, psoriasis, and aging.
This ingredient is related to vitamin A, and it comes in cream, gel, or liquid form. When applied to the skin, retinol can improve collagen deficiency. Concentrations of retinol may be different, however, stronger concentrations require a prescription from a dermatologist.
Some retinol products are not suitable to be used under the eyes, so it is important to choose one specifically formulated for that delicate area. 5. Sleep Elevated When You Are Sleeping
Try sleeping with your head elevated by using an extra pillow or a wedge pillow. Keeping your head raised can help prevent fluid from collecting in your lower eyelids, which often leads to puffiness.
Dark under eye circles are often caused by genetics, but their appearance sometimes can be minimized by lifestyle changes, like getting enough sleep, using topical treatments, and consistently wearing sunscreen.
